Before I picked up a camera professionally, I was guiding guests through the Kruger bush and managing lodge operations. I spent seven years as a qualified Field Guide, with lodge management experience alongside it — learning how lodges run day to day, what makes a guest experience unforgettable, and how wildlife actually behaves, long before I understood f-stops or drone flight paths. Twelve years later, that background still shapes every shoot I do. I'm not just there to take pretty pictures; I understand the operational side of a lodge from having run one, I know how to work around game drives and guest turnovers without disrupting your operation, and I know exactly which shots will actually sell a stay.
